Catherine Chan
Founder and Publisher
Catherine Chan was the former Chief editor in charge of The Standard Education section (Goodies, Junior Standard and Student Standard) and also the creator of primary level newspaper ES Lite (HKET). She is also a picture books writer and consultant, a guest speaker on teaching parents on how to use pictures books, and newspaper columnist for HKEJ, Sing Tao and Smart Parents writing about education.
Simon Lau
Founder and Managing Editor
Simon Lau was born and educated in England. He was the Chief Sub-editor of The Standard Education section for 12 years, editor of HKET’s English language student publications, and web editor at SCMP’s Young Post. He is a certified Cambridge English examiner with over 20 years of experience in IELTS, KET/PET and YLE examining. He is a published author of the short stories series Only Joking.
Jared Chan
Business Consultant
with 35+ years of experience in engineering management, product planning, production design and people management, Jared has led his company Axis Electronics Ltd. to design, deliver and support the production of 500 million goods sold globally for global clients including the video game publisher Activision for their Guitar Hero and Skylanders franchises.
Carol Cheung
Marketing Communications Officer
Carol has a wealth of experience in marketing, advertising, customer management, and business development for over 20 years. Additionally, she has developed education-related projects with her good understanding of parents' needs as well as those of their children.
Alan Chan
Senior Graphic Designer
Alan is responsible for the designs and layouts for Bingo. He is an experienced graphic designer of newspapers and magazines including for the Sing Tao publications Junior Standard, Student Standard and Goodies. He also did the page designs for various books including for kindergartens, Sing Tao Books and charities.
William Ma
Senior Illustrator
William Ma is the creator of the Kurt and Kate crocodile characters and also draws the Only Joking Comic on the back page. His work has appeared in English Street (HKET), Goodies and Student Standard (Sing Tao) and Korea Herald. He is the illustrator for the books Only Joking volumes 1 & 2, Only Joking Comics for Sing Tao, picture books for kindergarten children and education books for The Standard Education.
Bethany Lau
Voice Talent
Bethany is a primary school student and provides the voice recordings for the Ting Pen. Her voice can be heard on a range of books aimed at kindergarten Kids included Love Is …, The Happiness Book, Colourful Friends, The Shape Game Wisdom, and If Your Mum, Dad changed into Animals, What Would They Be? She also provides the voice for Bring Me A Book readings of popular picture books. Her hobbies are singing, writing and drawing.
Kurt
Crocodile Guide
Kurt has come to our city to show kids that English is not as scary as it seems. He is one of the main characters in the Only Joking comic and pops up now and then on others pages to give helpful hints.
